President

Jennifer Palmiere

The President, with fellow Officers, collaborates with the principal, staff, parents and students in an effort to support and/or develop programs and activities which enrich the educational and social lives of every student at Lakelands Park.

VP – Community

Kelly Goldstein

The VP of Community oversees and assists all the chairs of the various programs and events, including Basketball Night, Fright Night, PTSA dances, Staff appreciation, the PTSA newsletter and our volunteer effort.

VP – Fundraising

Pam Salem

The VP of Fundraising coordinates all PTSA membership and fundraising activities including Direct Appeal and Book Fairs. The VP of Fundraising also oversees the Membership drive and School Directory.

Treasurer

Deb Ransing

The Treasurer is the steward of the PTSA’s funds, and provides a report at each monthly PTSA meeting.  The general membership of the PTSA votes on how those funds should be used.

Secretary

Connie Ingalls

The Secretary will record the minutes of all meetings of the PTSA and the executive board; file all records; have a current copy of the bylaws; and maintain a current membership list.

Represent LPMS at MCCPTA Delegate Assemblies and report back to the PTSA. Monthly meetings usually on fourth Tuesday.

Represent LPMS at cluster meetings and report back to the PTSA. Monthly meetings usually on Mondays.

Coordinate school NAACP activities and report to the MCCPTA.

Book/Arts Fair

Schedule and coordinate volunteers for the book/arts fair.  Communicate event specifics to parents, staff and students.

Building & Grounds

Work with staff to coordinate the maintenance and enhancement of the school’s landscaping.

Business Promotions

OPEN

Work with community businesses to sign up for and publicize business programs (Giant, Safeway, Dollar Nights, etc.). Coordinate all related activities, including compiling information and reporting.

Assist Board in website updating and content development to improve overall communication between school and parents.  Coordinate web-specific programs.

Direct Appeal

Work with VP Fundraising to communicate and implement a Direct Appeal Campaign to raise funds for school-wide programs , activities and educational support materials.

Represent student, parent, and staff needs for each specific grade level.   Work closely with VP Community and Communications Chair to improve overall school communication.  One rep/grade level.

Educational Support

Network of parents, teachers and staff working together to promote and support academic achievement for all students in the LPMS community.  Promote collaboration between family and school (incl. those with special ed. needs),  host workshops for parents, teachers and staff related to educational and social issues that students experience, and disseminate information about MCPS and community resources through PTSA newsletter, Yahoo Listserve, and the LPMS PTSA website.

Work with VP Fundraising and Communication Chair to improve participation levels.  Distribute and collect membership forms. Distribute membership cards. Report to state and county. Obtain data from Treasurer for correct payment of dues.

Compile and distribute quarterly PTSA newsletter in collaboration with other PTSA members.

Improvement Plan

Work with principal and staff to identify and implement activities and programs related to school improvement plan. Assist principal and staff in conducting surveys or reviews to ensure compliance with plan.

Social
Basketball Night

Coordinate all activities, food and spirit sales for annual basketball between parents, teachers, and staff.

  Fright Night

OPEN

Communicate event specifics to students, staff and parents.  Arrange entertainment, food, etc., plan activities and coordinate volunteer staff.

Staff Appreciation

Organize regularly scheduled staff appreciation lunch/breakfasts and coordinate events for staff appreciation week.  Also includes communicating with staff (birthdays, condolences, etc.)

Volunteers

VACANT

Collect data from volunteer sign up forms; create lists of volunteers to chair committees.  Midyear, collect volunteer hours and assist staff volunteer coordinator to prepare data for submission to the County. Assist in identifying and securing volunteers for special events or unplanned school events.
